Access to Transplantation program in India

We help patients with limited resources to access life-saving treatment options and find matching donors.

Access to Transplantation program in India

DKMS’s Access to Transplantation (ATT) program is designed to bring value to patients with blood cancer and blood disorders by removing barriers to access Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) in resource-limited settings, particularly Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs).

In India, the DKMS Thalassemia Program and the DKMS Patient Funding Program seek to facilitate access to transplantation for patients in need, by

  • Raising awareness among patient families about HSCT as a treatment option for blood cancer and blood disorders.
  • Providing free high-resolution HLA typing for Thalassemia patients and their potential family donors (siblings, parents).
  • Offering free searches for matched unrelated donors when no matched related donors are available.
  • Giving guidance on financial support available.
  • Assisting patients from lower socio-economic backgrounds by offsetting substantial treatment costs through the Patient Funding program.
